Felix Maute was awarded the SEW Eurodrive Foundation study prize on May 16 for his master's thesis entitled “Environmental EMC of high-voltage batteries”.
Mr. Maute's master's thesis deals with a complex problem concerning the integration of new battery technologies in electrically powered vehicles with a focus on the optimization of electromagnetic emissions and magnetic fields, which occur during fast charging of vehicles due to high currents. In this context, Mr. Maute has developed complex models of various battery stacks, carried out detailed field simulations to evaluate the emissions and validated the models using a laboratory model set up specifically for this purpose. The excellent investigations carried out by Mr. Maute form the basis of a subsequent doctorate on reducing the field loads of HV batteries in cooperation with an automobile manufacturer.
